You don't have lives per say but a shared life system where every time you die, the character you were currently using is lost and you immediately continue with the characters you have remaining. The new palettes really pour new life into the stages, and tweaked areas in zones make stages feel new enough without feeling completely foreign. They are not nearly as easy as Mania Modes. So encore mode: 7 new special stages which are difficult. Plus is $5 if you have the base game, which is a great price, and $30 to buy the entire physical package (comes with art-book, reversible cover, shiny reflective box cover) where the orignal base Digital copy was $20.
